As I work from home today, having had meetings cancelled for various reasons, I am minded of a quote I saw last week from Daniel Brown CEO of TheKnowList:
"The world is going through a tectonic shift not seen since the industrial revolution".
He was commenting in the context of outsourcing agreements, but the point is more general. There really often is no reason for many of the working population to head for their offices and return home at the same times each day if at all.
Functioning efficiently at work is no longer a factor of being in a particular office location all the time.
Technology has both freed us to work anywhere - and in a sense enslaved us for precisely the same reason.
